Best Kiteboarding Slider Competition

The amateur event that you have been looking for has arrived! The Best Kiteboarding Slider competition is open to men and women of all ages. Sliders in the sport of kiteboarding have been growing exponentially over the years with the influence of wakeboarding into the sport. Sliders are essentially terrain park features that a kiteboarder can hit, jib, slide along with style. They require a good amount of experience and balance to be navigated safely and smoothly. The 2010 South Padre Island Kite Round-Up would like to all those amateurs practicing in their backyard slider parks, to compete against others on the amateur level at the South Padre Island Slider Park.

The SPI Kite Round-Up is proud to announce the construction of the new kiteboarding Slider Park in South Padre! Several Sponsors provided generous support for the sliders, as well as a team effort to construct the features by the local South Padre Island kiteboarding shops. The SPI Slider Park was built for the Round-Up and is available for everyone to ride during and after the event. The SPI Slider Park will also be a great year round addition to our already fantastic riding conditions, complimenting the epic flat water freestyle and wave riding conditions we already enjoy! Be sure to catch the Professional rider expression sessions, and be ready to rock your own steez in the rider and spectator judged Slider contest.

The Prize for the Freestyle/ Slider competition last year was a Liquid Force Concept Grind won by Kevin O'Neill. The prize this year for the Best Kiteboarding Slider Contest will be given to the winner of the Amateur Open division, which any active participant can enter. There will also be optional a Men's Master division for those 35 and older, as well as a Women's division. Both of which are reliant upon interest. A minimum of ten competitors must sign up, or else there will just be the general Amateur division.
