Boarder Cross

The Boarder X is sure to challenge racer's skills, endurance, and speed around a demanding course. Kiteboarding in close quarters with other competitors changes things up in the way one must race around a course. Obstacles and other kiteboarders will constantly be popping up in your way, so you must stay focused and avoid all hang-ups.

Downwind Race

One of South Padre Island's best features is the beach and downwind paradise that encompasses the entire length of the island. The narrow barrier island (world's longest actually) is fantastic for side shore kite surfing conditions on the Gulf of Mexico. With consistent wind and waves, the conditions couldn't be better to take daily kite surfing adventures up and down the coastline. The race will run the length of the Town of South Padre Island, which is approximately 5 miles long.

Flatwater Skimboarding Contest

Flatwater Skimboarding has been taking off over the past few years. Now it is coming to South Padre Island, where the sand flats are the perfect flat water skimboarding location. The flatwater Skimboard crew will be on the SPI with rails and skimboards in hand.

Freestyle Kiteboarding Contest

Freestyle contests have been around for years in the sport. The 2010 SPI Kite Round Up gives all amateurs the chance to show the latest moves they have been working on. Whether you like to keep your kite low and parked while throwing your powered wake style moves, huge old school board-offs, simple styled out grabs and rolls, or mega loops, then this is your time to shine!

Easily the most pleasing competition for the crowd. All spectators of the sport love to watch kiteboarders launch high into the sky. Bring back all of those old school maneuvers and aerials to take the prize on this competition.

Max Spin Contest

How many rotations can you complete during a big air? The Max Spin competition is meant to bring out those big air boosting kiteboarders that can spin to the max. Judging will be base on number of rotations and the ability to ride away cleanly.

Slider Contest

South Padre Island Kiteboarding Slider Strapless Hit

South Padre Island is now home to its very own slider park. The South Padre Island slider park will be used for the 2010 contest sponsored by Best Kiteboarding. Different terrain park features will be set up for the use of the amateur competitors during the contest. Sliders have been brought into the sport from wake boarders. Most who hit the sliders use full foot and ankle bindings called "boots", similar to what wake boarders use. Speed Trials

One of the fastest growing aspects in the kiteboarding and kitesurfing world is how fast can we go. Now that kiteboarders are competing for the world sailing speed record, we are constantly trying to push the envelope. South Padre Island, Texas is home to strong winds and flat race water, making it a prime location to hold this amateur kite boarding competition.

Stand Up Paddleboard Races

Stand up paddleboarding has become pretty popular for may people who live by the water of all kinds. Stand up paddleboards (SUPs for short) are a great way to enjoy the calm rivers of any bay, lake, river, ocean, or lagoon. We will hold several stand up paddleboard heats in the Laguna Madre Bay during the course of the 2010 SPI Kiteboarding Round-Up. So get in shape for the intense paddleboard race series!

Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament

The Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament is a great chance to show how good you really are against the competition in a real game of Texas Poker. One evening during the event, we will host a formal Texas Hold'em Poker tournament at a local bar/restaurant. Register today to make sure you get dealt in. Winch Contest

If the wind decides not to participate one of the days during the event (the wind blew ten days straight for the 2009 SPI Kite Round-Up), then we always have the Winch to fall back on. The winch will be used to pull kiteboarders and wakeboarders alike along the event shoreline and enable them to hit the sliders and kickers. Since it runs off of a gasoline engine, there will be no worries if the wind cuts out one afternoon.
